Procrastinating Knitter - 2010 Knitting Olympics

Well its over, another Winter Olympic has come to an end and I have successfully finished my knitting Olympic project before the end of the closing ceremonies (almost) .

Actually they have officially called the games closed a few hours ago but since the party is still going on in BC I feel I should I get honorable mentioned

17 Days of knitting, cast on during the opening ceremonies, have the project bound off by the closing ceremonies, the challenge (for me) knit a complete project start to finish FOLLOWING the pattern AS WRITTEN with no deviations. I have done it, I think I should get extra points for it being my first finished project of 2010 and my first EVER project finished in under 1 month.

My hands are cramping so forgive the out of focus photos.

Also congratulations to Team Canada for its AWESOME win today in Men hockey, it sucks that we lost but you ROCKED IT BOYS!!

Procrastinating Knitter - Leo Bunny

Well here it is folks, another finished project.

This was started, ummm about a year and 1/2 years ago, I think.

Ok, YES Melanie and Luis named their son Leo, and YES I SHOULD have knitted a Lion, but my thought was he probably has everything lion already... ok ok, actually I was making the pattern up as I went along so a bunny just worked out better..LOL

LOVE YOU MEL!!!

SO here it is, 5 days AFTER Leo Abbott's first birthday, but STILL before his first day of school.

...really I think I am making progress here, all I have to do now is get it into the mail. :o)

Great day to be inside, its 2 in the afternoon, it has been snowing lightly all day. I have the bread maker going and slow cooker working on this.

Fingers crossed the bread does not fall again!

Knitting up a storm in 2009

Well I have been knitting up a storm this year, trying to finish all my projects.

Also I have falling into the well of distraction called Facebook, spending WAY to much time on that, the upside is I have found a way to import my blog into Facebook so this may encourage me to update more.

On a sad note I lost my beloved dog Oscar, we never found a definitive cause as to what was wrong, the experts believe it was stomach cancer.

He was a great dog who was very polite, happy, loved to play with other dogs, also the best guard.

Stash Diving for Mystery Stole

Ok, so I joined the KAL a couple of weeks ago thinking, my life will settle down and I can do my swatch. So here it is the Monday before the first clue and I still have not browsed for, decided on, or ordered any yarn, not to mention beads, at this point I think its time for some stash diving. My budget gives a small cheer, my debit card breath a sigh of relief, all of which I ignore as they are sarcastic little buggers, they think I did not hear them snicker at the last NSF I got at the coffee shop… anyways… so lets go diving shall we.

I have three choices of lace weight, a brown, a yellow and a green, of course they were all ear marked for other project, but who’s in charge of my knitting me or some previous project that was so easily forgotten that the yarn is still nicely placed in plastic bags... I mean REALY!!

I have always been one of those the project will speak to me people. In high school art class I would stare at a piece of paper waiting to see the picture it wanted to be.... most teachers thought I was a bit slow but what ever. When I did decide on a project it usually came out fine.

Of course some people may say, blog title “PROCRASTINATING” knitter, really Chery you were “Waiting” for inspiration, that’s my story and I am sticking to it.

Anyway, so than I read the instructions, reading before I start, I’m feeling an emotional growth spurt coming on here, and BAMM! She starts talking about solid colors being better, now all mine stash options are variegated. Than I think well maybe variegated will be ok, they are only slightly variegated. Than I spy a beautiful turquoise yarn, not lace weight, more variegated than any of the three previously mention and my fingers start itching to finish the partial fingerless glove attached to the skein. NO FOCUS Chery… wasting only 10 minute side track on the fingerless glove I’m back to deciding on my yarn.

I have decided to go with the green; to me I call it grass. It looks like really nice dark grass, not that light flimsy stuff, but the really dark thick blade grass that grows in areas with lots of rain and feels soft on the feet when running bare foot through the yard.

I will try to hit the bead store sometime this week to find the beads.

OHHH I am sooo excited!!! where are my needles!!!
